This is basically a Nurse With Wound track that compiles many of the fan's fav tunes (like a small part of Salt Marie Celeste, near the ending). It is difficult to hear, you have to give it some efforts and probably skip some parts. It includes many genres, like: easy listening, krautrock, spoken word (that to me, sounds like it has some hip hop beats, like if Stapleton is paying a tribute to Snoop Dogg's music, haha), experimental, drone, noise and many more... Try listening a part around 19 minutes: it's jazzy, like an evil jazz you'd expect from Steven Stapleton's mind. It's strange. Then again, it even has a small dose of Salt Marie Celeste (which we've reviewed before around Serotonin Sounds). Here it is for free, Paranoia in Hi-Fi.
Below is the song "The Bottom Feeder" which can be found in Paranoia in Hi-Fi too:
Not quite an upcoming band, but a band that I think has been evolving a lot lately... Drum Eyes... Quite difficult to label. The band members currently are: Shige ∞ E-da San ∞ complitly dengerous ∞ Chris ∞ Kathy ∞ Alistair Crawley ∞ Tom Hanks (according to myspace). My bad, I don't how to decifer that so I'll say that it includes there DJ Scotch Egg, a drummer from Trencher [Liam], Eda from Boredoms and a girl from Comanechi. Their music mixes 8bit with drums, heavily-distorted guitars. It's a unique mix, I'd say. Check their myspace here or lastfm page here.
Here it's a video of Drum Eyes performing [courtesy of Last FM].
According to this musician, Jellowaste, he got his looks due to: "...this transformation [due to the fact Tom Cruise injected him with Biotoxin 45 ~ a chemical that was supposed to kill him) was so incredible, the 10 foot radiotransformative aura emitted during the changes turned his car into a neon yellow Firebird ~ complete with a radiation symbol on the hood."
I got to know this artist thanks to Drop Dead Festival... I saw some info about his earlier D.D.F. shows and he sure knows how to entertain a crowd and produce eccentric [and simultaneously good] music / sounds. The track list is the following: 1. Conveyorbelt Supremeincinerator 1:55 2. Dirtpires 2:40 3. Dokytrsle 2:50 4. Dump Slump 2:05 5. Jellybeanery FT The Zodworths 2:37 6. Sludgeplant 1:58 7. Steamengineering 3:03
My favourite songs are: "Dokytrsle", "Dump Slump" and also "Jellybeanery FT The Zodworths" (this one has a collab with one of the members of the band, that is now extinct, Din Glorious). The record's lenght is around 24 minutes and 55 seconds. Jellowaste's myspace can be accessed here. You can get it here (it has around 25 megabytes by the way).
Big Black's career started around 1982. They didn't found much mainstream success, however they've influenced the early industrial rock scene and have been remarked as a "must" for any person who's into noise. Their use of provocative lyrics garnered much attention. This album entitled "Atomizer" (which is their debut album), as received good reviews .Take this into consideration: All Music gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars. Their brutal slashing guitars and great use of drum machines were widely influencial. This album is included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. I know this sounds awkward, but the singer's [Steve Albini] voice of Gray Matter's vocals. The track list for this album is:
My favourite ones are: "Passing Complexion", "Stinking Drunk", "Big Money" and also "Kerosene". The album's lenght is 37 minutes and 37 seconds. The whole album is really dense and has a lot of cohesion along the song's transitions. Some people who aren't into "noise" should think about this fact: this work has more thoughts behind than it seems. You can get the album here too.
Kap Bambino formed around 2001 and nowadays they even have their own independent label. Kap Bambino are Caroline Martial and Orion Bouvier. Released in 2006, this album features awesome synth-ish tunes from a great electro group that hails from Bordeaux, France. Their music is characterised by wild distorted female vocals and mind-twisting electronic mixes. This album is no exception and has received positives reviews. The track list is the following:
1.
Zero Life
1:53
2.
New Breath
2:09
3.
Save
3:11
4.
Took Life
2:10

2:31
10.
Kaos Killer
2:46
11.

12.

My favourite tracks are: "Hey!", "Mess In The Ruins", "New Breath" and "Seed". But, as kind of usual, I advise you to hear the entire album. You can get this album here or promote the artist by buying it on some eBay vultures or on their label's official website here.
Below I'll leave an youtube video of the song "Seed":
My Bloody Valentine, my bloody valentine... What can we say about how paradoxal sometimes love gets? This album is like a potion of all the antagonic feelings there are in a romantic relationship. All of its atonality and a cacophonic indeterminancy caracterize romance. There's a reason for My Bloody Valentine's debut album to be named "Loveless". The track list is the following:
The songs "Only Shallow" and "Sometimes" are the ones I advise you to hear. "Sometimes" has an ambiguous sense of a shallow happiness, if that's possible at all: the person who hears it doesn't know if it is proposed to make you cry or to make you feel good, kind of in a nostalgic way. When this album came out, there were many music critics and melomaniacs that immediately recognized the importance of this work in contemporary music, particularly in the developing of the "shoegaze" genre and as inspiration for many bands. All music, Rolling Stone, Robert Christgau, NME, Popmatters, The Quietus and many other entities said marvelous things about this album.
Ok, today I was seing DJ Scotch Egg's myspace (one of the best 8bit and glitch DJ's I currently know of) and I found a post on his page about a strange thing called "Cacophonator II". What's that? It's kind of an instrument you link to another musical instrument (or whatever can be linked to) and it simply mutilates in many ways the sounds you produce. It's really interesting, it can make some good noisy combinations. It has a high price, yeah, it's 250 euros (around 325 dollars). For more info, check out the official website here.
There's also a good video about this instrument and how it works:
SPK formed in 1978 in Sydney, Australia, was a 1980s and early 1990s industrial music and noise music group. SPK stands for many names. Probably, the most important of them all, that influenced two members of the band, Graeme Revell and Neil Hill, was Sozialistisches Patientenkollektiv. This album that I'm reviewing is about the post-industrial SPK, more commercially oriented (however, I consider this album to be an exception, since it isn't as synthpop-ish as "Machine Age Voodoo", the previous album). This one is more about electronic orchestral work: it can also be labeled as contemporary classical ambient. The track list is the following:
My favourite tracks are: "In the Dying Moments", "In Flagrante Delicto", "Necropolis" and "The Garden of Earthly Delights". The album's lenght is 48 minutes and 10 seconds. The song "In Flagrante Delicto" is marvelous and features angelic vocals, backed up by haunting and obscure dark ambient sounds. You can get the album here.
As a preview to this album, try hearing "In Flagrante Delicto" below:
Giving reason to the subtitle ("A Beginners Guide to the Music of Throbbing Gristle"), this compilation features songs from TG's more audible times to the more noise and gore phases (it's obvious that their sound is always dark, no matter if it has a more "pop" approach or not). In case you didn't know, this band, Throbbing Gristle are quoted as the authors of industrial music. This album was released on [the now dead] Mute (on May 14 of 2004). The track list is the following:
HEALTH's second album is pure genius. LA's finest electronic noise rocker's or whatever you'd call them, excel in radness and that's that. This album, "Get Color", was released in 8th September of 2009. It was Lovepump United's privilege to launch this album. The track list is the following: 1. "In Heat" - 1:47 2. "Die Slow" - 3:12 3. "Nice Girls" - 3:10 4. "Death+" - 2:39 5. "Before Tigers" - 3:26 6. "Severin" - 4:09 7. "Eat Flesh" - 4:02 8. "We Are Water" - 4:15 9. "In Violet" - 6:14
Its lenght is 32:53. "Die Slow" is the main single off of the album (its videoclip is also great). My favourite ones are: "Die Slow", "We are Water" and also "In Violet"; however - and consider this that I'm telling you - the whole album is really good. The album has some tracks that are more intense, [more or less] allowing me to label it as some "electro noise" music at those times. At other times, songs like "Die Slow" are more shallow and more audible. But, when hearing all tracks, it seems they fit together like if each song was a magnet attached to a puzzle in a fridge. HEALTH have been progressing and if they continue to ascend like this, they could release EP's, LP's, tees and albums monthly that I wouldn't bother and would try to invest on them [if I had enough money to do that too]. Many critics have said really well about this piece. According to Pitchfork, "Die Slow sounds like a party where Lightning Bolt's playing at one end of the room and Giorgio Moroder is studiously banging out psych-disco masterpieces at the other...". This is just one of inumerous examples. The album can be heard by clicking here.
Next, I'll put below the "Die Slow" videoclip (it has a linear bauhaus shapes touch, with psychedelic effects mixed with it, resulting in an original piece for your eyes):
Ok, last sunday, by a pre-dusk part of the day, I filmed Soft Circle (Hisham Bharoocha's project, since he departed from Black Dice). It was a cool gig, that started more or less by 17h:45min. Hisham uses loops with modern music technology, then looping again with his guitar's help and some pedals and finally, he sings and plays drums, while these loops set a dazzling beat, with rhythmic cycles that hypnotize the viewer. Hisham, himself, seems like a spiritual person. A great musician, that excells in good timing while playing his drums, this project that started around 2007 seems to promise us a lot of good music. Soft Circle's second album, with Ben Vida, is scheduled to be released by Spring of 2010. For more info on Soft Circle, click here.
I'll upload the entire gig, if I can spare some more time... By now, I uploaded this short one:
Monte Cazazza can be called a messias of industrial music. He was one of the very first to include tape loops, samples (with recordings of violence ambience, rape, wars and other atrocities). Oh, he was also expelled from the Oakland College of Arts and Crafts because when he was asked to do his first sculpture assignment, he built a cement waterfall hat permanently disabled the main stairway of the college's building. His work is considered so obscene that I've heard that even nowadays it's difficult for him to appear on the streets. He would've meet some of his friends with dead cats and then would blow them up to pieces. Now that's a fair lesson to be and stay obscene and controversial. This album (that features an ironic title and is a fairly good compilation) contains various songs of Monte's career. The tracks are:
Personally, I love the following tracks: "Stairway to Hell", "Six Eyes From Hell", "Liars (Feed Those Christians To The Lions)", "If Thoughts Could Kill" and "A Is for Atom". This work was released in 1992 on the label The Grey Area. The album's lenght is around 72 minutes and 25 seconds. Instruments used: sampler, keyboards, vocals, violin, synthesizers, guitar, bass, tapes, drums and some magnetic tape effects. Have this album by clicking here, if you dare [not for the weak of heart].

I'll leave one song of the album I enjoy a lot: "If Thoughts Could Kill":
Black Dice have been classified as an experimental electronica group. I'd say they fit into a category called "noise/electronica/experimental/dissonant/weirdo electro". You have to hear them to understand what I'm talking about. "Based out of Brooklyn, NY, the trio is fiercely independent, doggedly disciplined, and uncompromisingly DIY in approach. The music currently retains elements of noise and proto-industrial experimentation, while at the same time organically suggesting minimal, electronic, hip-hop, and psychedelic ideas as well as those of punk, tropicalia, and dub. Consistent to every era and all of their material is an irreverent, aggressive, hand-made aesthetic that simultaneously revels in and reconfigures the whole of popular culture." said a random blogger. They've started this band in 1997. Currently, their label is Paw Tracks (the label that Animal Collective made, that has released records from Panda Bear and Jane, too). This album [Repo] has 14 tracks, ranging each one from 0:21 minutes to 6:29 minutes. This music is described as ambient / noise / electronic. It surely is something thrilling. Gig wise gave them 4 stars out of 5 stars. Pitchfork gave them 7.1 out of 10.0. The album is available here and if you are into this type of music, you should also hear other stuff from Paw Tracks (Panda Bear has made a few tracks in his album "Person Pitch" that were similar to Black Dice).
Here you have the fifth track from "Repo": La Cucaracha.
One of their finest albums, Silence is Sexy mixes their most "industrial sounds" with a rather new melancholic side of Einstürzende Neubauten. My favourite song featured here is for sure "Sabrina"- which was also the first song I've listened of them, thanks to the videoclip (one of the best I've seen). Blixa Bargeld as a particular voice, since he can sing with his characteristic screams and/or with a more Nick-Cave-ish touch: which is something to be admired. I also love "Dingsallen" and "Silence is Sexy". You can listen to the album here and the password is this one: bunalti.com
It's kind of hard to say they didn't rock... they were epic! Although I've only seen Michael Vincent Patrick there, it was quite a good rave. There were also some portuguese playing too, before and after Designer Drugs: RISKODISKO, Blasfemea and Dirty Dave. The party was held at Técnico (more specifically at the Students' Association cantine), an university located in Lisbon. It was quite funny, there were Eristoff and some other bottles placed at the cantine, instead of some cookies or whatever should've been there earlier. When their famous song "Zombies" played, it was instant success: the crowd became one person with an incredible shout. There was some crowdsurf held at the same time, which I took part of.
There was for sure a good environment.
Michael from Designer Drugs showing us how it's done.

Fennesz released "Black Sea" actually in November 25 of 2008, but the CD I own has a different artwork which was released in December 9 of 2008. This album is a wave of white noise with Fennesz distinctive experimental class. Working again mainly with conventional instruments like guitars and computers, his album is great. It works as a collective of good dark ambient and drone musical pieces that brush and clean your ears. With me, this album has such a relaxing effect that I even fell asleep (I don't say this in a bad way, keep that in mind). All the tracks featured on this album are fluid, being coherent when blending with the next songs. The album's lenght is about 52 minutes too.
(This is the front cover of the album that was released in November 25 of 2008)
You can try hearing this album by clicking here or otherwise, if you are really fond of these sounds, buy it. But first, you should try eating the sounds of the self-titled track "Black sea". Watch the video that's located below these words:
I already have this album. It was given to me on my birthday, by my grandmother. Just the idea that I'm going to post it here makes me want to download it. Wavves is so good...
Natahn Williams is the man behind Wavves. He composes everything, plays everything, sings everything, etc... He's the man. His first album (self titled), came on 2008, and it seems that Pitchfork really liked it (yeah, wtvr...). This album came out this year, and... it's great. Labeling: low-fi, noise, pop, punk, beach and on and on.
Next, I'll show you a videoclip of their well-known hit "So Bored":
AIDS Wolf is cool. It's noise, it's loud, it's electro, it's... I know nothing about them. I only know that they're cool. Reminds me of Crystal Castles, only cooler, noiser, faster, more weird... If you like Arab on Radar, you'll love this. Din Glorious a band that died some months ago also love them and their music is quite similar to AIDS Wolf on some songs.
Don't forget to show them to your granny.Oh, and have a seat and treat yourself: listen to their album "The Lovvers". Finally, I leave here this video:
